Getting Started
What is ZIG?
ZIG is an AI-powered browser extension that monitors live stream chat in real-time and surfaces actionable insights for live sellers. It catches buyer questions you might miss, groups repeated questions, summarizes chat activity, and can even speak insights aloud so you never have to take your eyes off the camera.
Is ZIG free?
Yes. ZIG is completely free to install and use. All features are available with no hidden fees, trials, or premium tiers.
How do I install ZIG?
Install ZIG from your browser's extension store (available on Chrome, Edge, Brave, and other Chromium-based browsers). Once installed, go to any TikTok Live or Whatnot stream. ZIG automatically detects the live session and shows a floating panel with AI-powered insights. No configuration needed.
Which platforms does ZIG support?
ZIG currently supports TikTok Live and Whatnot. It automatically detects which platform you're on and adapts its features. More platforms are planned for the future.
Do I need to create an account?
No. ZIG works immediately after installation. There's no sign-up, login, or account creation required.
Features
What kind of insights does ZIG provide?
ZIG provides several types of insights: purchase-intent questions (people asking about price, availability, shipping), repeated question detection (when multiple viewers ask the same thing), chat activity summaries, engagement alerts (viewer spikes or drops), and platform-specific features like auction tracking on Whatnot.
What is the "Reply needed" feature?
When ZIG detects a question from a viewer that indicates purchase intent, it pins it at the top of the panel as a "Reply needed" item. This ensures you see high-value buyer questions even when chat is moving fast. These stay pinned for a short time, then move into the regular feed.
Can ZIG speak insights out loud?
Yes. Enable the speech toggle in the ZIG panel settings. ZIG will use text-to-speech to read out important insights so you can stay focused on your audience without looking at the screen. You can choose your preferred language for the audio output.
How does ZIG handle Whatnot auctions?
On Whatnot, ZIG tracks auction state changes (bidding, sold, between items), monitors bids, detects giveaways and BIN (Buy It Now) sales, and provides context-aware insights based on the current auction phase.
What languages does ZIG support?
ZIG can understand and summarize chat in 100+ languages. Set your preferred language in the panel settings, and ZIG will deliver all insights in that language regardless of what language viewers are chatting in.
What does the "Mute stream" toggle do?
The "Mute stream" toggle silences the audio from the browser tab where your stream is open. This is useful when you're streaming from your phone and monitoring the stream on your laptop with ZIG. It prevents audio feedback without affecting ZIG's ability to analyze chat.
Microphone & Speech
Why does ZIG need microphone access?
Microphone access is optional. When enabled, ZIG listens to your speech during the live session so it can understand what you've already told your audience. This helps ZIG avoid suggesting things you've already addressed and provide more contextual insights.
Is microphone access required?
No. Microphone access is entirely optional. ZIG works perfectly fine without it. The mic feature simply adds an extra layer of context so ZIG can be smarter about its suggestions.
Why does a separate tab open for the microphone?
Browser extensions cannot access the microphone directly from the background. ZIG opens a small helper tab to capture your speech. You can switch back to your stream tab immediately. The mic tab will keep running in the background. Just keep it open.
Is my speech recorded or stored?
No. Your speech is processed locally in real-time using your browser's built-in speech recognition. The text is kept temporarily in memory for context (last 60 seconds), then discarded. Nothing is saved to disk or sent to third parties.
Mobile & Multi-Device
Can I use ZIG if I stream from my phone?
Yes. Stream from your phone as usual, then open your own live stream in your browser on your laptop. ZIG will detect the stream and monitor chat from there. This is a popular setup among live sellers who prefer their phone's camera but want ZIG's insights on a second screen.
How do I prevent audio feedback when monitoring from my laptop?
Use the "Mute stream" toggle in the ZIG panel settings. This mutes the browser tab's audio so you won't hear your own stream playing back through your laptop speakers. ZIG continues to work normally with the tab muted.
Is ZIG available on mobile?
ZIG is a desktop browser extension (works on Chrome, Edge, Brave, and other Chromium-based browsers) and is not available on mobile. However, you can still benefit from ZIG while streaming from your phone by opening the stream on your laptop. See the question above for the setup.
Privacy & Security
Does ZIG access my account or login credentials?
No. ZIG never accesses your account credentials, passwords, or private data. It only reads the public live chat stream that's already visible to everyone watching your stream.
What data does ZIG send to its servers?
ZIG sends batches of public chat messages to its AI backend for analysis. This includes chat text, usernames displayed in the stream, and gift/engagement events. No personal data, account info, or private messages are ever transmitted.
Does ZIG store my chat data?
No. Chat messages are processed in real-time and not stored. Once ZIG generates an insight from a batch of messages, the original messages are discarded. No chat logs or history are saved.
Will ZIG slow down my stream or browser?
No. ZIG runs with minimal resource usage. It reads the existing chat data stream without adding overhead. The AI processing happens on ZIG's servers, not your computer, so your browser and stream performance stay unaffected.
Troubleshooting
ZIG panel is not showing up on my stream
Make sure you're on a live TikTok Live or Whatnot stream page (not the homepage or a recorded video). The panel appears automatically when ZIG detects an active live session. Try refreshing the page. If it still doesn't appear, check that the extension is enabled in your browser's extension manager.
ZIG is not showing any insights
ZIG needs live chat activity to generate insights. If the stream just started or has very low chat activity, it may take a moment for enough messages to accumulate. The panel will show insights as soon as there's enough data to analyze. Check the message counter in the panel header to confirm ZIG is receiving chat messages.
The speech/TTS feature is not working
Make sure the speech toggle is enabled in the ZIG panel settings. Your browser needs to support the Web Speech API (most modern browsers do). Also ensure your system volume is not muted. If the "Mute stream" toggle is on, note that it only mutes the stream audio, not ZIG's TTS output.
Microphone permission was denied
If you denied microphone permission, you can re-enable it. Click the lock icon in your browser's address bar on the ZIG mic tab, find "Microphone" in the permissions list, and change it to "Allow". Then toggle the speech feature off and on again in the ZIG panel.
Can I move or resize the ZIG panel?
Yes. You can drag the ZIG panel to reposition it anywhere on the page. Use the minimize button to collapse it when you need more screen space. The panel will remember its position during your session.
